Hazelight Studios is a Stockholm co-op studio on Södermalm. Founded in 2014 by director Josef Fares, it is known for two-player story adventures: A Way Out, It Takes Two and Split Fiction. Its games are published by Electronic Arts under EA Originals; the studio remains independent.
History
Fares founded Hazelight in 2014 with the core team behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, to explore new ways of telling stories through play. The studio emphasises creative freedom and collaboration, and runs its own in-house motion-capture stage.
Games
A Way Out (2018) was a co-op-only split-screen action-adventure. It Takes Two (2021) won Game of the Year. Split Fiction, released 6 March 2025, is a sci-fi and fantasy co-op action adventure — the studio’s third and, it says, most ambitious game.
Now
Hazelight says it is deep into development on its next project. No title or date has been announced.
