Paradox Interactive is a Stockholm publisher and developer, listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. It is best known for historically grounded grand strategy. In-house Paradox Development Studio makes Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Stellaris and Victoria. History
The game catalogue dates to 1999. Fredrik Wester, founder and CEO, leads the group from Södermalm. Shares were admitted to trading on the Nasdaq Stockholm Main Market on 9 June 2026, with no new share issue.
Publishing sits in Stockholm. Grand strategy is made in-house by Paradox Development Studio (several PDS teams in the city). Studios in the Netherlands, France, Finland and Spain develop other catalogue games. Paradox also owns the World of Darkness brand.
Games
PDS is the studio behind Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Stellaris and Victoria. On 25 August 2026 it announced Afterworld, a post-apocalyptic grand strategy game set in North America — the studio’s first original setting in a decade. There is no release date yet.
The wider catalogue includes Age of Wonders, Cities: Skylines, Prison Architect and the Surviving games, developed by studios outside Sweden and published by the group.

In the first half of 2026, results were driven by catalogue sales and new downloadable content for Crusader Kings III, Hearts of Iron IV, Stellaris, Europa Universalis V and others. The group also entered a publishing partnership with Urban Games for Transport Fever 3. Afterworld is in development with no date announced.
